this a new answer to an old post  .
    to stabilize wood .Soak in 50/50 solution
of the cheapest dollar store washing up liquid and water .leave for a week or so  .depending on wood density . remove and use ..
   it will prevent splitting and hopefully warping by blocking the wood pores...i have used it for wood turning  green wood ..it worked very well .
