Units of History - The Balearic Slingers DOCUMENTARY

New documentary.

Nothing I didn't already know in the first half, but learned a bit in the second half.  Comments are pretty awesome, too.

Sorry, but it's a pet peeve of mine:  'Yea' isn't the word you want.  It's 'yeah'.  'Yea' is an anachronistic word you see in the King James bible. More like you can tell the writer is a fan of slinging.
Like when a parent says their kid is so great

oh the title says balearic slingers Lips Sealed
I think you could say that for every unit he reviews , seems too generic made for total war fans for the audience it's addressed it's ok

Finally got around to watching it. If it gets people even slightly more interested in slinging, it's a good thing. It is pretty surface level (but then out is only focusing on one slinging culture), but I think we sometimes forget that we're in deep with slinging Cheesy I still have to explain that you let go of one of the ends to make the stone fly when introducing it to some people.

100km/h is a wild underestimate for projectile speed, in the same breath they claim 400m range which requires an absolute minimum of 225km/h (62.6m/s) launch velocity, and with air resistance accounted for likely much more.

100km/h is only 27.8m/s which cannot even reach 80m range in a perfect vacuum.

Yes, a bunch of comments pointed out that error.  Theories are they either meant 100 m/s or 400 km/hr.

Is the way the narrator says "Balearic" the correct pronunciation? I may have been saying it wrong for years.

Wikipedia gives the pronunciation a few different ways:

(/ˌbæliˈærɪk/ BAL-ee-ARR-ik, also US: /ˌbɑːl-/ BAHL-, UK: /bəˈlɪərɪk/ bə-LEER-ik;[1][2] Catalan: Illes Balears [ˈiʎəz bələˈas]; Spanish: Islas Baleares[3][4][5] [ˈizlaz βaleˈaɾes])[

I mostly used the UK pronunciation (unsurprisingly): bə-LEER-ik
but I've kind of switched to the same pronunciation as the video as I started hearing that more often.

not bad - shame about the actual slinging animations. Might have been an idea to watch some slingers first Smiley

And that's pretty much how I pronounce balearic these days.
