Hurricane Isaias

Weird arsed name.  Anyway Hurricane Isaias is headed my way.  The coast huggers can often be the most damaging.  We could use some rain here as long as it's not a biblical amount.

I don't wish to bring doom upon us by flying in God's face but so far Isaias is an unimpressive storm.  He's not very well organized and isn't even a hurricane anymore.  That said, I never let my guard down.  Sandy was just a very weak Category One and look at the mess she caused.  Plus hurricanes are notoriously unpredictable.  Things could always change.  Right now as far as it goes here in Jersey I'm expecting a good, very needed soaking and not much more.

What ever he turns into by then, Isaias will be here in Jersey in about twenty four hours.  We're pretty well prepared for whatever here at my house.

We're getting the brunt of Tropical Storm Isaias now.  This is much worse than Fay. It's wild and wooly out there.  Very noisy. We have a tornado watch until 4:00 PM.

Isaias is over.  It was pretty intense for a while but at least here we were lucky.  I think 2015's tornado topping some of the tall trees helped us out today.  I'm sure there was damage elsewhere in New Jersey but here my next door neighbor's tree was the worst I've found so far.  Between the four inches of rain  we got today and the five we got from Tropical Storm Fay a little while ago my lake has risen significantly, which is nice to see.

This is probably my final word on Isaias. Farther inland they got more rain.  We got about four inches here.  The closer to the coast you were the worse the wind was.  I walked Max through our neighborhood this morning.   There were some downed trees and branches but nothing catastrophic.  Here we didn't do too badly.  Other areas got it worse.

Glad to hear that you fared well. 4" is such a large amount of rain. I've only ever seen 3" in a day and it was extremely soggy, but not quite flooding.
