If excessive wood at bow tips causes a loss of arrow speed, why aren't pin nocks more common?

The difference between very light “normal” nocks and pin nicks is very slight. I think preference plays a big role as well.

So, not better or worse. I ask because I botched the nocks on a new bow, but could fix with pins Wink

Love it! Red oak? You guys don’t have a whole lot out there I terms of hardwood right? Do you have any dogwood up in the mountains?

Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a great wood.
Pretty and performs well. My best selfbows were made with it.
But I must say Australian woods are not very bowyer friendly, still haven’t made one I’m happy with from native wood.
