Here is mine. It is made of the crappiest jute twine I could find so I don't use it. I think it would be great if it was made out of nylon.

Netted slings seem great for uniform clay balls. Didn't the Aztecs use those or am I pulling that from thin air?

   I've made all kinds of slings and even invented a few.  I've never made a netted sling.  I need to give that a try.

I have netted a couple. Recently posted a couple pics in another thread. Here they are; single pouch and split pouch. The split pouch is square netted.

I believe there are a number of paintings that suggest netted slings but I don't know of any archeological evidence. Doesn't mean that there isn't any just that I don't know Cheesy

I also want to make a netted sling for clay balls. They seem like a great low friction design that will retain them as well.
Not an ideal pouch design for bad rocks I would imagine.

Walter, I like your pouch design.  I would be interested to hear more about how you netted it.

I have come up with a technique to make netted pouches that I use to make trebuchet slings.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbTmTzyULcQ

I have definitely found that, at least with the netting style I use, the pouches need to be well sized to the specific projectiles you will be throwing.  So they are not as versatile as a solid pouch.  Something too small will get stuck in the net and something too big will not be contained in the pouch.

@Walter
I like your slings. Can you post a picture of the transition from pouch to cords of the sling in the first picture, please?

I have a note book in which I record every sling type I have made, so yes I can and will within a day or two Smiley

Jaegoor I would like to see what you come up with.

I have two designs in mind.
The first can be made of leather or perhaps even 3D printed.
The second would be a traditionally netted sling.
I'm going to have to look up knots for netting

The thing that concerns me is durability when using natural fibre for netted slings
I am eager to see what Jaegoor will make
