Have you ever tried slinging without it?
Yes but I get less power and I needed every little bit I could get.

have you ever tried longer slings?
Not yet. I can't use a longer sling in my apartment without scraping the door
I have a funny feeling I will have to make a longer one for outdoor work if I want to easily reach 30m.

When you bring your leg up, don't focus so much on swinging it back and forth.
Raising your lead foot is how you tip your weight towards the target, then drive with your rear leg. The rotation is actually at your hips/trunk not just your forward leg. As you push off with your back leg, your trunk and hips should rotate and your leading leg will fall in front of you with the toe pointing towards the target.
Going to work on this for sure!
