Nice video and technique. The short sling is fun to use, isn't it? I can hit the 30m target with a sling as short as 40 cm but at those distances a 50-60 cm sling will perform better.  You will really feel how much easier it is to 'reach out there' with a sling that is longer. But the short sling also has its use, especially in area's with many obstructions around you.

It does look quite like baseball Cheesy I left a comment on Yotube but just for people here to see as well, I would say, put more forward hit movement in. This is one of my main problems and one of the main reasons I can't throw all that far or hard. Hip movement will help you reach those further distances though.

Exactly this allows me to sling indoors and not hit the door when I sling.

Well I have watched lots of youtube on how to throw a baseball correctly in order to figure out what to do with my body so yes it looks like baseball  Cheesy  I watched some more clips and I think I understand what you are talking about the hip movement.  Going to try and incorporate that see how that works before I move to a longer sling.

Good video, Shakli.  Interesting windup with your left leg.  Have you ever tried slinging without it?  Just curious.  Also, have you ever tried longer slings?  Though I'm most comfortable with a 38" sling I've used them as long as 64".  I personally find slings under 24" uncomfortable/cumbersome. Of course everyone is different.

I like the analytical approach!
I can def give a few pointers if you don't mind me saying so.
I really think it's good that you're being active with your lower body and legs. When you bring your leg up, don't focus so much on swinging it back and forth.
Raising your lead foot is how you tip your weight towards the target, then drive with your rear leg. The rotation is actually at your hips/trunk not just your forward leg. As you push off with your back leg, your trunk and hips should rotate and your leading leg will fall in front of you with the toe pointing towards the target.
Also, I know you're really going to not like hearing this but the flip flops are keeping your abilities in check. Betcha you do way better with shoes on amigo

Never!

Yes but I get less power and I needed every little bit I could get.

Not yet.  I can't use a longer sling in my apartment without scraping the door  Cheesy  I have a funny feeling I will have to make a longer one for outdoor work if I want to easily reach 30m.

Always! Its part of why I am posting here.

Going to work on this for sure!

lol  I thought I was going to be on grass and go barefoot...  but had trouble finding a spot to hang the target.  Next time shoes for sure!

I did some slinging today with a short sling, same style exactly as yours and I did the same baseball pitching thing with my feet. I don't do it with other styles but with a short sling & greek style it really invites it. Don't think it's a bad thing at all.

Got this to work it adds a lot of power to the throw!  Problem is it is very tiring. After 200 throws I am hurting from the physical effort.  Since at this point I am more interested in accuracy then power I am just going to switch to a longer sling of 50cm (19.5").  That way I can shoot off 350 shots and not be tired and hopefully when I go back outside the extra length should get me the distance I need to hit the target at 30m.  Thanks for the help  Smiley

you only get 1 point for the quadro (outer square) no matter how far away you are Smiley
So just the 1 point at 30metres.

Which is actually pretty good !

And yeah for 20 and 30 metres a slightly longer sling is a good idea Smiley
