Slingshot Forks
May 9th, 2020 at 2:55pm

I finished up some slingshot forks from dead wood today. I left them both pretty natural. The smaller is really quite rotten and dried out but still has a strong core luckily. The larger is very solid and will make a great slingshot for heavy bands. I think I enjoy making slingshots more than I do actually using them Cheesy

LOL, I like making them too. Have about a dozen natural and oak board y forks. Like shooting, but my bands finally broke. The bands I treated lasted a few years. The others didn't last very long.

Nice! I still have some slingshots with bands around and the last time I checked the bands were still ok, but I haven't actually shot them in years at this point. I feel it's easier to get away with using a sling than a slingshot in my practice areas. Slingshots ricochet too much for my liking. If I was further away from walkers I would feel happier about using them.

Aren't the forks on the big one a bit thick kick ?
ie: there is very little room between them for the pouch and missile to pass through.

Might be an idea to make the 'V' deeper perhaps.

Got an old black widow with wrist support around somewhere - pretty good fun if you use .75 calibre paint balls with it.

Does need a proper cupped pouch with a back tab though. Quite easy to pop the paintballs when you squeeze the pouch while pulling Smiley

With the right technique, you don't have to have a fork at all. I have no idea why they're called this, but "pickle fork" slingshots have basically no fork at all:
