New Staff Sling
May 9th, 2020 at 2:39pm

I found this perfect walking stick whilst out on a walk and realised it was the perfect length for a staff sling. It was a little chewed up by a dog (hence bark being removed from the lower portion) but is really sturdy and seems to work great! I've only had a few throws with it, but I'll be taking it out tomorrow and hopefully I'll get a YouTube video out of it.

The few throws I did went exactly where I intended. Wasn't aiming specifically, but was aiming for the river between some trees and it went straight down the middle like it was on a string. Good sign Cheesy It's a bit heavier and a bit longer than my original one so I'm expecting it to really pack a punch.

Woah! That is pretty cool. I have a big branch I've been meaning to make into a walking stick in my basement; Maybe now I'll try to give it some added functionality.

That looks great!  When I first saw the photo I thought you had some kind of cover for that spear head you got.  Grin

Looking forward to a video with this one!

In my opinion, everyone should try out a staff sling. They can take a lot of fiddling but once you have the right shape for the release end, they can be fantastically powerful and accurate. Thanks to all the work I put into the first one, this one seems to have come out pretty darn good on my first attempt Cheesy Still needs more testing though.

I have actually made a (very rough) cover for the spear head, basically just to make sure I don't stand on it and give myself a foot piercing. Video will hopefully be filmed today or tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

Totally agreed here! The creative process in making these kinds of weapons is a unique pleasure.
