Oklahoman in N. China

Hello y’all,
I’m an Oklahoman currently living in northern China. I’m new to slinging, but have always loved hands-on hobbies. For the last 8 years or so, I’ve been doing leatherwork. My most recent project was making a pair of bison moccasins with some stingray accents on the tongues. Anyways, this week I somehow stumbled onto slinging and thought it would be a cool hobby. I previously tried my hand at archery and bow making back in the states, and while there are some places to practice here, slinging just seemed like something that’s really cool that I could more easily practice in China. I’ll be looking at crafting my first sling soon. I’ve still got tons of bison leather, a couple stingray hides, leather látigo lace, and enough paracord for a couple of braided cords at least. Happy to hear any ideas if anyone has any about how these materials and how they would affect sling physics. The bison leather may need to be skived down a bit as it’s 6-7 oz. Anyways, nice to be meeting you all in the future and I look forward to learning more about this cool pastime. Thanks!
