figured I'd keep it simple and doable.
So currently going with: Accomplish at least one thing each day (getting out of bed does not count)
Working so far.
Today I've redesigned the hinged glande moulds to use metal butt hinges. Which should fix the hinge issue and eliminate any weak points.
Just started the first test print
Assuming I've sorted all the dumb design issues I had yesterday - this one will be going to cairo for destruction testing
(it's a persons name NOT the city lol)
Wood Lathes.
Did a fair bit of wood turning some years back. These days the lather is mainly used as a disc sander with a homemade sanding plate.
It's a very satisfying process, starting with a rough lump of wood and finishing with a finished thing.
But it is something of an adrenaline sport.
After all, you are taking an uneven piece of wood spinning it up somewhere betweeen 500-2000 rpm and
then poking it with a sharp piece of metal !
The wood doesn't always stay attached to the chuck, so your refelxes are sharpened and yu are constantly waiting for something to go wrong
You will see youtube videos of old guys who've been turning 50 years or so. They look relaxed.
THAT WILL NOT BE YOU ! lol
I would recommend a gum shield. I often used to catch myself with gritted teeth, particularly when initially rounding out an irregelular chunk of wood
Now if you want a more relaxing version of wood turning. Make your self a bodging/pole lathe and only use green wood.
It's slow turning with a foot powered lathe.
