Hello from eastern shore md. USA
Nov 12th, 2019 at 10:40pm

Hey! Super excited to meet some seasoned slingers. Just got into it. I love trad. Archery. I went from attempting to make wood arrows right into making strip laminated boomerangs. Work at a guitar factory, so I get some nice maple and mahogany wood. I’ll be making boomerangs till I die! Love making them, and throwing them. I wanted to try something new so I considered the bolas but the sling caught my eye. I made two balearic slings and bought a few. I just finished making a marudai stand and am looking forward to making an andean style sling. Has anyone tried using dacron for making slings?

Here is an Al Gerhard style hook. Just put some brass weight in the blades.

Welcome from Pennsylvania!

Definitely some fancy looking boomerangs you're making there!  I tried once but it came out really bad, so I haven't done another one.  Do you have any videos of your boomerang throwing?

Heya! Thanks for the warm welcome and the compliments on my booms! Much appreciated. I can’t express how much fun it is to make them and then watch them fly and come back. Unbelievable satisfaction. However much trial and error and tuning. Also a bit of technique in the throw. Here are some vids. https://youtu.be/TWCQ3cYCEmU

Thanks for the encouragement. I started making molds for the booms around July of this year. So I guess august was my 1st batch of strip laminated boomerangs. I made my first boomerang out of plywood about 25 years ago. It flew well. I broke the wing off by accident. Duct taped it back together and it still flew well. Ha!Ha!Ha!

Beautiful work!
Oh, and howdy from South Texas! I used to spend a lot of time over in the Gaithersburg area, but haven’t been there in several years.

Are you interested in doing any trading for a boomerang?  I’ve been looking for one with a fairly aggressive lift to throw in my smallish yard. Most boomerangs get caught in the trees before coming back, so I have been searching for something that can make a nice short loop.

Thank you. Yeah, I would consider a trade. I think that a traditional elbo or hook boomerang would have to be relatively small to make a small loop. A multiblader has a lot of lift so it would also be an option. How big is your yard? What do you have to trade?
