I love these designs. I remember the tutorial you posted for the small knotted mat and meant to play around with it, but do you know if these general patterns could be applied to a larger area? I was thinking about trying to make a scratch mat for my cat. But I would like something that's 2 feet across or so.

These patterns are easilly enlarged. Use the largest diameter rope you can find at your local hardware store so that you do not have to make so many passes around the mat. Tony

The cordage is coir (coconut husk) so it was pretty hard to tighten things up. I have the general idea now so I'll gets something easier for my next one.
