Primitive Technology interview questions
Aug 15th, 2019 at 9:44am

Slingers-

John Plant from the YouTube channel, Primitive Technology, has allowed me to interview him before his book is released this October.

https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/600727/primitive-technology-by-john-pla...

He is a survival expert and has introduced the sling to more than 17 million people through his channel. Respond here with any questions you would like me to ask and I will post the interview here on the forum.

Never heard of the guy - but then he's probably never heard of me either - so we'll call that even whistle
you got links to any of his sling videos ?

need to see him sling before asking anything Wink

Actually it'd be the same question I'd ask any youtuber - how much money do you make on 5 million views per video ?

(has quick look at youtube) Oh, that guy Smiley
In a weird way he's kinda like an inverse naomi wu.

Yes they both produce perfectly excellent videos on their relevant subjects, but an awful lot of their veiwers are probably just there for the physical attributes of both of them.
I imagine 'cough' whistle
Naomi who ? noidea lol

Sling related : how far can he sling?
But I don't think he's practicing slinging regularly so my other question is irrelevant to slinging.
What does he think contributed to his YouTube channel growth the most?

You can probably make a viral video out of the second question Wink

@Slingbasket - Just curious who John Plant is to you.  You seem to really be promoting his book and YouTube channel.  I was wondering if he's a friend or anything.  And I don't mean that in a bad way at all.  As I said, just curious.

As for a question that could be included, it's a pretty common notion that the sling isn't the greatest tool (for a beginner) in a survival situation because of its learning curve.  He could be asked if he has any specific thoughts on that.  Whether or not it would be worthwhile to make one, how a certain situation might affect that decision, etc.

I want to know if he’s ever read the book “Caveman Chemistry”, and if so... what’s taking him so long to get from caveman to chemist? Smiley

What other primitive weapons is he planning on making and of course I second what TheJackanti asked: when he is he going to make it to the iron age and/or is that on his list of eventual goals?

All good questions so far. I am just a fan of his. I’ll keep this going for a bit longer to let some more questions roll in.
