I was slinging into a forest and hearing the loud thunks of rocks against tree echoing through the forest, and I was thinking how unsettling it would to be inside a forest and have the sound of a few hundred slingers slinging rocks into the trees. bangs everywhere..

It's easy to forget when most of us are slinging alone, but a group of slingers throwing against a line of shields would be pretty loud and really pretty terrifying.

I still haven't made whistling ammo! I really need to get some golf balls and drill some holes. I don't have the space or equipment for lead.

Slinging at different ranges makes it a lot more fun. A good slinger adjusts his throw to distance of the target by ''feel'' through experience. Since we do not have sights and the sling just being an extension of the arm,  even shots landing relatively close or in the same horizontal line of target at different ranges already shows the slinger can adjust correctly. I find Balearic style to work best for me for slinging at different ranges as I go, as I feel I got most control over the arc of the projectile, while less so with overhand styles. Overhand feels more suited for close range to me. Turkey throw or greek overhand, or fig 8 are my favorite close distance 'hunting' styles, with relatively short slings, while for general target slinging at different ranges I naturally swap to Balearic or a Balearic/helicopter hybrid.
