Distance and accuracy

Hi folks,

If one was slinging at a balearic size target at 100 meters what would you consider a good accuracy of hits on target?

Depends on the throw style, winds, and ammo. Side-to-side, +/-5 degrees would be good. That’s just under a 18m wide area at 100m, which is why slings are typically considered area weapons at longer ranges

I once tryed hitting a boi floating about 80-120m off the shore, the boi is about the size of a basketball. I would say at those distances hitting the Balearic target is doable . Specifically hitting the dina might be a more chalanging feat.
Say 100m
100 throws
Between 1-10/100.

I would say that the first day trying at such range even 1 hit out of any number of throws is good.
So it depends on how often you practice on that distance. With no more practice than an occasional once per month I'd say ~5% hits is good. (I agree w/ Mersa)

A system like that might help with judging a slinger's skill if you had dozens of slingers, which is rare. I don't see where it helps.

the best thing is to sling, then maybe share videos for feedback and then to discuss. The forum's main purpose is to discuss you can't sling in here Tongue why expect more?

100m with pistol is doable(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ3XwizTqDw) but modern weapon users seem to prefer direct aiming and shooting ,airgun users might use magnification scopes even for ranges like 30m(!), how more direct can you get?
volley fire at high angles with muskets watch @ 3:41 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1Bw-7JzEGA

I'd say the use of firearms in short ranges is a matter of preference and convenience it's not easy to find ranges over 100m in cities. If it was available people would do it, same with long range slinging.

Warum gibt es diese graduierung im kampfsport. Ganz einfach.

Without trying to be too controversial here I would say if a chickens egg should be possible with relative consistency at 20 meters then I could see 40-50% at 100 meters on a 4 ft. square target such as the Baelaric islands use. This of course being for someone who is very skilled and practiced at that distance.
