Has anyone slung obsidian? I would think that they would shatter, like clay glandes. Sharp shards flying everywhere would be quite a deterent.

How dense is obsidian? For some reason I imagine it being kind of light so you would need a fairly large lump. I could well be wrong.

You are a great guy Kick but also slightly scary at times. - Morphy

It's glass, so it gets hefty pretty quick. My mother had a decorative piece at one time. Probably not comparable to lead, but I would estimate it was heavier that most rocks of a similar size.

Just like Jaegoor described, ancient slinger's hand grenade

Obsidian is 2.6 to 3 on the Mohs scale. Diamond is one and talc is 10. This makes it dense, but also inflexible. It can chip, and in certain conditions, shatter.
