I'm the lead slinger in a hard rock band

As I was writing about adrasion issues in the "cordage" topic, I remember an experiment I made some times ago:
using a fragile polypro Tut-ish sling with abrasive, pink-painted stones; One or two hundreds of throws, maybe more, sidearms and overhand.
Here's the result. Note that I'm right-handed. you can see the point where the stone puhes the pouch to open the sling. As I remember, during the first throws, the black side of the pouch took all the pain, witch I interpretated as a wrong palm angle during the cast. I tried to correct this, and abrasion became gradually more even. Note the pink coloration of the release cord, going up the pouch for more than 15cm. This cord also bears the marks of some "misfires", ie unwanted interractions beween de stone and the cord. the whip was even half cut.
Has somebody tried something similar? I definely shall conduct this kind of experiment again, using various kind of ammo...
