Interestingly the distance for clout shooting is 180m, just like vegetius suggests to train slingers and archers.

Has anyone tried this with slings? Like clout archery?

not clout but long range video coming soon.
It's very difficult to spot a falling stone without a spotter, I get why all the studies conclude to relatively low distances.

Let me guess... You went 200-300 metres with stones?

I'd love to see more long-range slinging videos.

The choice of native peruvian sheperds is not good for unsterstand the problem of the hillfort.
But it's very good for another situation. When the "chief" calls the farmers for a battle or a war. Their performances were more ordinary, without military training. And the range was probably 70/80 meters. With a taut shot, the speed of 200km/h gives a range of about 60 meters.
Just my thinks.
