"Standard Issue" or "High Tech" Sling

We talked about a similar topic with fire and leather or wet cloth in a pouch to protect a sling against fire damage, But I'm wondering, how would you design a sling that could meet state of the art standards, perhaps almost indestructible and last nearly forever? Obviously there's no market for it, so let's just go crazy.

With all modern technology that we have, as "silly" as it might be, I find it kinda fun to think about it, how to design a "high tech" sling? How would you make a sling most resistant to wear and tear, as well as being fire resistant to be able to throw fiery projectiles reliably without risking damaging the sling? What material should be used and what are the variations in weight across the length of the sling, would we want a cup or split and so on? Perhaps it might be fun to think, "Can we also make it cost effective?"

There was recenlty a similar topic on the question you posed.  There were some interesting (and some crazy Cheesy) ideas.

I think the intended projectile would be a big determining factor on the design of this sling.  If the sling needed to be fire resistant, I would probably start with Kevlar paracord.  This would hold up to fire and other elements, as well as being very strong.

For the pouch there are multiple types of fire resistant material.  Although I'm not familiar enough with any to know what would make a good pouch material.  Depending on the consistency of the material, using a layer of fire resistant material on top of a layer of leather may work.

Good old asbestos! Might give you a bit of a cough but great fireproofing!
