split pouch , sling staff

do y'all think a split pouch would be a good idea for a sling staff that launches tennis ball sized stones and chicken egg glandes? I feel it's a bit sketchy because of the chance of miss fire but I've never made or used split sling

Depends on how big the pouch is. If the pouch is too big it will misfire, but if the pouch is just the right size there is no chance of misfire.

it can be done but i would use a pouch to reload faster and more easily.
I use split pouch all the time for hand slings but i also rarely use any smooth round stones.
tennis balls will have problem with badly designed pouches or split pouches.
too narrow / non cupped pouches and the tennis balls fall from the sides
too long split pouches and they fall through the split causing an abrupt pull, too short and they fall from the sides.
so you got to experiment
if i remember correct split pouch for tennis ball should be around 12-13cm.

It should work but like others have said it has to be the right size (tennis balls are v large ammo compared to stones), additionally if the split is thin and not stiff tennis balls may fall through the centre due to their spherical nature.
But if you go too thick and stiff chicken egg stones may not work very well.
There's definitely a working compromise in there but you might not find it if you haven't made many split pouches before.

I just avoid split pouches on general principle
Plus it annoys the mallorcans almost as much as a no windup throwing style.

Like Kick, I'm on the split pouches side...
But only when said split pouch is woven. I've only had problems when using split braid pouches, but not one from a woven split pouch. You can blame Hubert for this, best sling I've ever had!

I have made several split pouch staff slings. They work just fine plus you have the advantage of the versatility of the split pouch... you can load a lot of different sized ammo. I very much like split pouch staff slings.

Like Apache? I mean I don't use it for any serious throwing or anything, I mainly use one revolution sidearm or helicopter.
I do imagine they indeed generally don't like sweaty tryhards who end up just looking silly with their "accurate throwing style" and "beautifully crafted innovated sling designs."
