survival sling

We have this topic somewhere in the not too distant past, but I haven't been able to locate it. So. here is another entry for a quick and easy sling to make if for some reason you get stranded out back of beyond without a sling.
It is basically the same type sling I entered in the survival sling post, but has seven warps instead of three and no wefts (weaving). It is still a sheepshank using 9'8" of 1/8" diameter cordage plus 22" of 1/16" diameter cordage. Knots are two half hitches on the pouch (one on each end of pouch), finger loop knot and release knot.
First pic is made with walmart hemp. Second with pcord. Have not made one with fiber yet.

I just posted this elsewhere but I still think this is what I would do for a survival sling. Takes about 5 minutes (factoring in the adjusting), takes a minimal amount of materials and the pouch can be adjusted on the fly very easily if the size of your ammo changes, it by-passes the weaving other designs require and no cutting required so the material can be repurpsed for something else. It's not a perfect sling design by any means but I think it's the perfect survival sling design. I guess your design walter is basically the same but with more loops which I haven't tried but yeah these designs with no need to weave and all from one length are the way to go.

I like it. I have made several sheepshank slings, but for some reason wove the pouch, which is not necessary. The three strand pouch will also use less than two feet of twine. My seven strand pouch used four feet of twine. That means less fiber and time to make a sling. I'll twist one up this weekend to see how much time and fiber it actually takes.
A pic of a yucca fiber sheepshank "survival" sling with woven pouch that I made a year or two ago.

The "TS3" or Three Strand Sheepshank is one of my favorite slings. I usually weave the pouch but you're right; it isn't necessary. It's quick and easy to make, doesn't look half bad, and works as well as anything.

Seems unnecessary. If you need a sling in a hurry it's quicker to just rip a strip of cloth off your clothing, assuming you're not naked (if you are naked, why do you have a length of twine? Use the twine to hold up some leaves or grass for modesty's sake).
If you're not in a hurry, make a better sling
