We got about four inches the day before yesterday. It's gone already.  Some Winters are like that in New Jersey.

So far we have  had over 100 in, fall over the course of winter so far. Tomorrow we will be getting  another 7-10 in. If I go off a trail to cut a tree for firewood.  I sink down to my waist. I am 6ft 1in tall. Which is really fun while holding a chainsaw

I imagine snowshoes are high on your purchase list for next Winter. I was stationed at Ft. Drum, N.Y. off and on for a while.  I took Arctic Training there.  Like Maine, that part of New York state gets an insane amount of snow... the most I've ever seen.  If you don't have snowshoes you aren't going anywhere.... except down.

Oh I have 2 pair of snow shoe still learning how to walk in them. I have s few trails so stamped down from me and the dogs walking, on do punt really need em too much. Unless I go off path, which I only do with a chainsaw to cut trees. I am not looking to get hurt walking with snowshoes and a chainsaw. Lol

Being from New Jersey I had never seen chest deep snow prior to Ft. Drum.  It was amazing how exhausting walking through snow like that without snowshoes is.  I was young and in shape then.  After only a hundred yards I was completely spent. Snowshoes are a necessity in some places.

That's something I forget every winter. Even walking in the centre of Helsinki, the snow and ice can slow you down and then you are using way more energy.

over the weekend we had 70mph winds. It took ice off Lake Erie and pushed it up on the shores. Some of the ice walls are 20 ft. Don't believe me? Look--

No one knows. There hasn't been a situation like this before. They're having a hard time keeping people off of them now.
