if i woke up with 7" of snow, the world around me would be in chaos! these desert people can't even drive in a drizzle lol, and they 2 hr delay school for anything over 1.5" snow, or sleet which is more likely; it almost never precipitates in any fashion other than morning dew anyway.
i spent time in and around Ruidoso/Cloudcroft, NM area and that place gets 4-5 month spans of 36" frozen slabs of this shaded snowmeltfreeze nonsense that seemingly never goes away; those people expect you to be able to drive uphill in it to fix the tv Roll Eyes which is what i used to do before i accidentally tried to twist off my knee (not at work) and am battling for my job back and the stupid amount of money the maths say they owe since they quit paying my disability. in 2016, the stupids.

thanks! i love to demonstrate anything i came up with. if ever any hammock/camping/bushcrafting/survival ideas or questions pop up ever, feel free to shoot them my way. i have an enormous amount of random information stored in my brain on crazy subjects, nothing would ever be so out of the ordinary that i didn't at least have a start.
for instance, in my pursuit of 'my way', i did not tie off the ends of the pouches as instructed, and evidently 'my way' was lame because it came undone before i ever even slung it. the ends are whipped under the first couple wrappings, so they should stay and if they do not stay then Cry i'll try again. i feel as though this jute won't last through too much abuse anyhow, but i hada do it with my ADHD hands and jute was the best choice as its cheap,on hand, and when it deteriorates i won't be too hurt.

thank you! you have possibly the most epic lawful or chaotic evil handle, ever. My brother in law is about to DM 5e Mines of Phandelver for my wife and i to play, fully hope we meet one of your ilk by which to :archer: in the face!  i once, back when you schlepped your pc in a wagon, had a friend that setup LAN parties in a backroom in some kids house somewhere that had the handle alucard187u on like everything. everquest and everquest-y games. i am honored to have known the dastardly rouge lol. RIP KWASS!
thanks for the welcome fellas, and the first attempt was to show that i mean business. i started building arrows (cane stakes at home depot $4, craft feathers at walmart $2, dollar store superglue, thread, 2 ton epoxy i already had in a bucket) because i got a bow from an unlce that died (RIP KEVIN!), i spliced a string out of dyneema hammock suspension line that works perfectly, and decimated my crappy fiberglass arrows on a steel plate in my backyard from 30 yards fairly accurately and i needed more arrows but am broke. i learned to make string from materials at hand and i mean to learn to make a bow whenever that opportunity presents itself to me. i currently live in a desertous scrubland that offers few, if any, treestands of any size and no rivercane. we got yucca. and we got dirt and we got mesquite bushes. and we got rocks. yucca makes string, and dirt (seemingly) makes glandes, and if not there are rocks around. this is a thing that can happen in a few hours time and possibly bink a rabbit. rabbit is about all a wild and hungry desert person without a rifle is going to get. and if he had a rifle, he'd still get rabbit because its good eatin when one is hungry! Wink
finished a 2nd keychain in the slingweave fashion this morning!

Welcome from Utah, just north of you.  Fun to meet a fellow bushcrafter.  I have been getting into that recently, I did all stone age primitive tech for years, then transitioned to Historical (Fur trade) era living history.  and now I am mixing those with a little bit of modern gear to create my bushcraft kit and get out on the ground more.

EPIC! i have tried to knap glass and floor tile and fail to grasp 'shaping' properly, its difficult lol, and i smashed a spoon flat for a trade point to go into an arrow, but i only dabble and love it. totally would get into one of those living history exhibits anywhere from viking era forward. thanks for the welcome! Hah, I actually made up my username by combining my middle name, Drake, with monolith and I thought it sounded cool. People on this forum have surprisingly pointed out other things similar/using this name I thought I made up.  Grin Out of curiosity, why shoot at a metal plate with arrows instead of a softer target? If you need an easy, cheap target, when I did archery and didn’t have a target I just stuffed a pillowcase with dog toy stuffing (my dogs tear up toys quite fast) and hung it up.

i had a hollow core door and a piece of particle board i thought would stop them more that did not stop them much at all before they ate the steel plate. i had the plate setup to ensure a downward ricochet in case that happened too much, as i live smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood with dogs on all sides of me; rather destroy (cheap, random) arrows than risk one going anywhere other than down. those were cheapy youth bow kit arrows anyhow that i wasnt sure were going to work with a bow i wasnt sure was going to work, and the cane arrows i made up were far more awesome, even if way too heavy to be used for any real archery. definitely would penetrate the flesh of a man. watermelons i have no doubt would be decimated. now, if i can get these red clay/sand glandes built and dried and make them smash melons i'll be tickled pink.

A Dracolith is a dragon who stores his/her soul in a phylactery thereby negating death. super powerful wizards and warlocks do this to ensure they don't die (until the phylactery is smashed, they usually wear it around their neck or seal it away in some distant dungeon or castle tower to protect it) and can conquer or enslave or whatever floats their boat. dragons who submit to this process usually want to bask in their wealth and squalor for eternity, vain creatures that they are. very powerful, super hard to kill, color affects what effects they produce: black is acid, blue is lightening, red is fire, etc. D&D is epic, and 5e (current) has much and many of everything. undead dragons of immense power included.

Huh, cool. I’ve actually never played D&D but would like to someday. My character would definitely have a sling  Grin

the 5th edition player's handbook gives this for slings in weapons:

Sling: ranged weapon, simple  Value:1 Silver  1D4 Bludgeoning damage, no weight, with a range of 30-120ft

I say it's far too underpowered. I wouldn't mind if they made slings inaccurate at low levels or something but 1D4? Might as well punch them.

extremely underpowered, but if your DM has any familiarity they could always scale it depending on your D20 roll anyway. a nat20 at distance would be devastating for sure. i have such terrible technique i doubt i'll ever be even fair with one of these things. very difficult. and if the football-shaped glandes were to be spiraled for point on contact, i feel they would do tremendous damage, especially to wildlife. i can't fathom for the life of me the method for that, mostly because i can't fling anything very far YET, and im super interested to see if i can get to proficient with this thing. brings a whole new respect for the mogadishu kids who pelted marines on patrol from outside the killzone.
