Greetings from Utah, USA
Nov 15th, 2018 at 12:58pm

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum but not slinging.  I have been involved in primitive tech since I was a kid (about 12 when I developed a keen interest in all things primitive tech)  I am 40 now so going on 3 decades of exploring all things primitive tech.  I rediscovered slinging recently and was pleased that the forum was still here. I found it in College while working on an ancient civilizations paper on Roman warfare.  I have been making and using slings for a long time off and on, who doesn't like chucking rocks lol.  Anyway, I am pleased to be here and enjoy the fact that even in a world of advanced electronic tech we are using that to keep alive such ancient technology.  I will post some pictures of slings I have made and my current everyday sling.  In the non-primitive world, I teach Social Studies at the Junior High level (grades 7,8,9) and I also teach firearms courses to adults in my state.  What can I say, I love learning and weapons lol.  Pictures will appear on this post later tonight.

I am in Northern Utah, Davis County area.  I grew up in Centerville, chucking Lake Bonneville Gravel up the canyon.  Lots of good memories of building shelters and atlatls, and even some deer hunting (with guns)  up those canyons.

here are some more recent slings all craft quality Jute from Hobby Lobby haha.  This is a Balearic style but with round braiding on the body and flat 6 braid for the split pouch.

this one is a 8 braid with a chrome tanned elk leather pouch, also Jute.  This one is pretty short but it throws nice.

This one has a Oil tanned cow hide pouch, also Jute and also an 8 braid with a different pattern, this is the perfect size for me for both long throws and fast accurate (that term is all relative haha) short throws.

Finally, I got a little bored with braiding and my fingers were cramping so I made a paracord sling with linen whipped and sewed ends.

Thanks!  I enjoy making them as much and sometimes more than throwing with them.

Welcome!  Those are some great looking slings. Looks like you put some serious time into each one!
