Regardless of your politics, this is a cool image. If anyone is writing a fantasy novel about a slinger, I think I know what the cover art should look like.

That is quite an image. There are a lot of good pictures of people mid-sling both in protests and herding and just for fun. Something about slinging I think is quite photogenic.

Man, that image is the stuff of legend. Flag in one hand, sling whipping around in another. Dang!
His pouch is just a flat section of an army belt? Like the kind of belt you hang a canteen from.

What makes you say that Jaegoor? I agree it’s a pretty impressive photo, so it could be fake but it looks pretty real to me.

No obvious signs of photoshop. If it is staged that might be another thing but with the people in the background and the fact the photo is actually at a bit of a strange angle... I think it's real. Either way, it's an amazing scene someone caught by chance or it's an amazing scene someone staged. I'm still impressed

The scene is likely set up but if it's Photoshop it's a very good job of it.

looks genuine - we know they use slings.
No reason it shouldn't be genuine.

I Googled the photographer and he's taken a lot of photos in Isreal/Palestine and there are quite a few of slingers both with and without flags.
Getty Images page, 100 pages:

Oh I also found the same guy from a different angle, I think during a different throw:

There are a lot of pretty horrific images in that collection and of course a lot of politics surrounding the images but it is fascinating to see such an ancient technology still in use in the modern day and does give some insight into how it has probably been used throughout history. I imagine slings have made an appearence in the majority of all the riots that ever happened. Large sections of the population knowing about them and probably having some experience... Honestly, if I was part of some revolutionary action, I would at least bring one along just in case. Hard heavy stuff isn't too hard to find...
