Well, after 7 coats of vegetable oil, the second set of rocks still don’t look as nice as the first one. I started with 5, but I used one as a test with the laser engraver after 5 coats. The remaining 4 are getting darker and more uniform, but 7 cycles of baking seems a little ridiculous. Maybe starting at a low temp first was the way to go, or maybe these rocks are just different.
