old video, some may find it interesting.

i wonder if even the staff sling requires a lot of experience and practice to use it properly and get great range.
but maybe it doesn't get any better.

maybe timpa's designs have greater potential than the traditional style staff sling.

Sarosh;
    One of the advantages of the staff sling is that it's much easier to use than a hand sling.  I can get a novice slinging effectively almost immediately with a staff sling.  I have found that a staff sling won't give you any more range than a hand sling but it will allow you to launch much heavier projectiles with ease.  Staff slings are fun and easy to make and lots of fun to use.

That's a nice design from Timpa. Having part of the cord be replaced with a rigid pole is something I was playing around with as well although my design had the entire retention cord replaced with a rigid pole.

I think Timpa's design is faster and more powerful although possibly due to the fact that it's more sling like it might be harder to aim. The question I have is how much harder? If it's significantly easier to aim than a normal sling than it bears further investigation because the power seems pretty similar.

As to your original question, to reiterate what RM said the SS is easier unfortunately it comes with some big drawbacks. One only needs to ask "why did this weapon not replace the sling" to begin to understand that they both have their place and both fill a niche the other cannot necessarily fill as well.

Yes. Both slings have good points.
