Now That's a Knife
Aug 1st, 2018 at 4:57pm

I can never find a big enough survival knife. A while back a friend sold me this one. All I know about it is that it was hand made in the Philippines. Its blade is 12" and overall length is 18". I believe that it's hefty enough to lop someones head off. My search is over.

The friend who rents my attic, Mike, has a Kukri. Last week I cleared an overgrown patch of my yard with it. I agree, it is a nice blade.

It's a nice knife too bad anything bigger then 2.5in is illegal to carry in your state. It's a shame.  I can carry my seax knife anywhere.  That has an 8in blade, and overall its 12in.

If I'm walking the dogs around town I sort of pay attention to the law (sometimes).  If I'm camping or fishing I carry any knife I want.

It is. I really recommend the website I got it from: Tora Blades. They are always behind schedule and you'll have to wait months for it to show up, but they are just fantastic.

I did my first chore with my giant survival knife.  I chopped the twigs off of a bamboo staff.  Just that little job buggered up the edge.  My impressive looking knife is a piece of crap.  Fortunately I have others.

Ah that sucks. My kukri is great but the problem I have is I SUCK at sharpening knives. Almost all mine are blunt right now so I'll need to sit down and actually try and do some proper sharpening.

I just learned how to use whet stones last year.  I invested in a set of diamond stones, and some small Arkansas stones for when i am in the woods. But super easy to learn in my experience.  I dont have space to lay the stones on a table, so i have to hold it in my hand. Which is a bit of a learning curve.

That is my main problem is lack of decent sharpening equipment. I think I'm going to bite the bullet eventually and get some good ones.

https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/DMT-6-Dia-Sharp-Kit-P404C127.aspx this the main one i used. Got it at the same price. Its awesome,  and not too expensive.  Plus diamond stones last the longest, from my research.  The company was somewhat helpful

That looks great but the problem I have is being in Finland. Shipping from America is basically a no-go. I need to really go and see what's available over here I think.
