Hey guys just wondering if anyone here has made a Kevlar sling?
I’m about to order some Kevlar to make one..
Hope it is more abrasion resistant and will be a long lasting sling for my EDC

I have, and it is very good. Though I use glue to wax mine for increased durability and just re wax it when I see it rubbing off. I even have a tutorial of my Kevlar sling if you want me to link it, may be helpful. Also, haven’t seen you on here before, welcome to the world of slinging!

Yes please link for me! Does the link have pics? If not any chance you could upload some?
Thanks so much for the prompt reply.
I’ve heard PVA glue works well... I was planning on using that to cement down whipping

It does have pictures,

and I’ve personally only ever used craft glue as it dries kind of stretchy and seems to work well with cordage, but that’s the only type of glue I’ve used to wax. Also, no problem.

Thanks so much! It looks really good!
I’m vegan so am going to be avoiding leather- will make a split pouch one with Kevlar webbing for pouch and Kevlar cord for the arms.
Will post pics once done

I have much interest in using kevlar. I just ordered a 2mm spool of it. We'll have to compare results and experiences. I might try using some aircraft epoxy for some knots and whipping.

I’ve done some research into fire twirlers who use Kevlar cords and wicks- they use PVA and say when fired it hardens.
Wanna trade a Kevlar sling for Kevlar sling?
I’ve irdered some webbing and will be ordering some cordage on pay day

Sure, i'll make that trade. My spool should arrive tomorrow. I plan on doing a woven pouch with it and possibly using it for the cord of a seatbelt split or sewn pouch.

Just finished up this kevlar sling. It appears to hold knots well so I'll see how it holds up without using any glue or epoxy.

Thank you! It's not perfect but I try to improve my craftsmanship with each sling, even if that means taking some extra time to work on the braids. Unfortunately out of the 100ft spool I bought, this sling used up about 65ft, but I think having it 100% out of Kevlar might be a bit redundant. I believe the real potential lies in that woven basket pouch. A pouch that keeps its shape and holds ammo much like my preferred hemp pouches but as durable as it gets. For my next one, i'll do the exact same thing with braided 275 paracord but still weave a kevlar pouch.

Very nice looking, where did you get your Kevlar for curiosity’s sake?

Amazon baby! All lengths and sizes there, even black kevlar.

Really? I also got mine from amazon but when I shopped I only saw one listing that seemed useable for slings, I’d be interested to see these other sellers you are talking about, if you wouldn’t mind posting some of the links. Maybe it’s because we use different amazon stores? Like I know the UK has a different one from the US so something like that could be happening... I’m in the US.
