Just read through the Wikipedia page. It screams "HBO series". Finnish knife-fighting gangs, made up of people from all sections of society, roaming the countryside rebelling against an oppressive, fundamentalist society by getting drunk and fighting. I would watch the HELL out of that.

Or in this case, birch logs. Weren't they worried about getting a splinter in the middle of a fight?
