Will you keep the pelts or make use of the predators you kill in some other way?  Not to be gross but Coyotes are edible.  I unknowing ate dog when I was in Korea.  Afterward I had to admit that it was pretty good though I haven't had it since.

I am gonna learn how to brain tan, it's been something I wanted to learn for awhile. I never tried dog, but might give it a go. Or be a jerk and feed the kest to my chickens. Lol. My dad was stationed in Korea, he has eaten dog. He liked it, tells me all the time, especially if he hears my dogs acting up. Lol

Found out today,  the local store who I purchased the chicks from. We hit a sich one,  and have to cull the whole flock.  And start from scratch.  We could do antibiotics,  but they can have flair ups and we would be be able to est the meat or eggs when they are sick.

Did you make enough syrup to sell or is it for your own consumption?

We didn't get very much,. Its gonna be for our consumption.  Which I boiled a little too long and it partly solidified.  Lol. Its almost like a candy.  But I will be giving some to neighbors. Next year I already have a few people that want to buy some. Gonna try to throw a video up today or tomorrow

In the 70's and 80's there was a co op in southern maine that would buy any oops maple syrup. They would mix it all together, reheat and filter it. I think that was what got sold to grocery stores  Cheesy

Knowing maine now, and being here for almost a year. It wouldn't surprise me. Lol. It might even still be around to this day. It's a great business strategy.  I do have a few videos I am trying to upload to show the whole process,  but we just used up our data for the month,  so now they throttle the speed until next bill cycle.  Ultimately we only got 20 oz. of syrup, next year we should be getting more.

These are in order of how I made the, I dont do any editing, but one video had an issue, so it had to get broken into 2 videos.

Maple candy is awesome. Maybe next year you could deliberately solidify some of the syrup.

I really like it. I am hoping to add more taps every year. I already have customers for next year, after a few coworkers found out what I was doing. The stuff we got now,  i boiled it too much, and it's almost has the consistency of apple butter.  Not bad for my 1st time.
