So of course I tried to sling it with low expectations and poor results.

Anyone know what it is?  One too few golf balls and too short a connecting cord for a bolas. One too many golf balls for slinging.

I think it's for a game called "ladder ball" or "ladder toss":

That has to be it. Thought it might be ear plugs for a giant ET with huge ears and a tiny head Grin

that should sling really well, sort of a bolas.
I'd have no problem getting that in my sling Smiley

I was just thinking that. With a large enough pouch that could be an interesting projectile to sling.

Replace those with steel ball bearings and that would be a cool small game weapon.

Thought it might make a good self defense weapon. Tested it by holding one end and swinging it at a dead tree. Golf balls being golf balls, when the other end hit the tree, it bounced back in an arc at the end of the rope and hit my arm just below the elbow at warp 3  Embarrassed
Steel balls may or may not be quite as painful. I'll never knowi Huh

hey you know you may be onto something.  i remember as a kid learning how to take 00 buckshot and open up the shell, dump out the shot, partially split them, open them up, use thin piano type wire to place in the opening, clamping the shot back together around wire and repacking it into the shell...to keep the shot together after discharge.  i got soft lead 50 caliber muzzle loader round(i have 2 .45 caliber muzzleloaders and one .36 but can only find .50 caliber round shaped ammo at a local store(gander mountain)so i melt them down and cast my .45 and .36 conicals from them) i may try that with and place them in a sling to see how it performs.
