Article on bolivian slings from 1940

Just got sent this: http://www.persee.fr/doc/jsa_0037-9174_1940_num_32_1_2325

The fact that it from 1940 (weird year to write article on slings) and is about braiding bolivian slings - is pretty much where my french ends.
And that's probably wrong Smiley

But there are a couple of patterns there I've not even seen in huberts slings !

If you have a clue about braiding (I don't) then the pictures will make sense Smiley

You can probably run the text through google translate, interesting to see what it makes of older french.

Wow, those are some complicated diagrams. I don't even know how to begin interpreting those.

Mhhh, interesting! That's one of the sources cited in Cahlanders book. At least one pattern she picked up again, others I have never seen before. Most patterns seem to be fistbraiding but one (scheme 6) I'm not sure.

As I translate with my limited French I read the title as "The braiding of slings in Peru and Bolivia and fabrics in Uro-Cipaya", which is an old colony in South America I believe. Looking through the document its seems like the authors are more interested in the weaving patterns and techniques of the Native American textiles than their slings.
