Mini boche ammo

Had a little find in a camping store (Kathmandu) the other day.
Mini boche or boules
35mm hollow steel balls ranging from 44-48g.
Haven't slung em yet but soon as I have a good area I'll give them a go.

What sort of price were they if you don't mind saying? Boules could be good but I can only imagine that they would be expensive to buy online because of shipping and then trying to buy anything in Finland is going to be expensive...

They were on special for $20 Australian . Don't know what price they were marked down from. Any more expensive and harder to get and I wouldn't have got them but they were right there for 20 so I just grabbed em. Worst case I got a new game to play when camping.

Yeah that's not bad. Interesting to see how they do in the air.

Since they are hollow, imagine the power if you filled the inside with lead

Interesting you say that I had the same thought.
However this will turn them into very expensive ammo with 2 functions that both have a high loss rate.
Long range throwing (lost by being buried or lost in sight when thrown)
And hunting (animals don't like well manicured lawns or indoors, lost in all that scrub)
Gonna have to justify the money for the 6 throws if I'm going to do that.

Well, in some places you can get free lead, some tire stores, due to a ban on lead weights in tires, have a bunch lying around they will give to you for free, or extremely cheap, as otherwise, they would have to pay to have them hauled off. You could also go snorkeling in a popular fishing spot in search of lead sinkers to melt down

What a coincidence. I have in recent weeks been looking at flea markets full-size Petanque balls.

I had the opportunity today to try these out.
Verdict not so good.
Being so slippery and spherical my split pouch was only just holding the ammo when seated correctly so there is a problem with enjoyment.
Throws much the same as the stones of similar size, I don't think there is much dentsity/aerodynamic coefficient advantage due to them being hollow.
They hit hard and are very durable but all in all there not that impressive
Unfortunately

fill them with lead.
you'll have density close to that of lead and at the same time a hard casing ,lead deforms easily ...
also casing means that you wont worry too much about handling lead during slinging.
use a pouched sling...
it might be difficult to make holes to them though.
edit: now they have density close to that of stone, filled with lead they'll weight 240grams (if i'm correct) with an overall density 10.7g/ml close to that of lead (11,3g/ml). how bored a man can be...

Thanks for putting in the effort and trying to find out there end weight parmenion!! Wow over 200 g , didn't think it would be up that high. I will definitely consider it , being that heavy though will put it outside my optimum weight for distance . Throwing 200g+ as hard as I can sounds like shoulder injuries.
But they sound like hard hitting hunting ammo.
But probally much overkill for rabbits.
