Terrible, terrible sling demonstration

I can't decide if this is funny or painful to watch, haha!

The sling and pouch design with the use of straws is a clever idea.  But look how the guy actually holds the sling.  He obviously has no idea what he is doing.  Shocked

Some useful ideas in there but yeah your not watching this guys technique for pointers.
Like the straw idea. Might try this with leather.
Pouches that cup heavily like the one at the end of video will be inconsistent on realease.

Stands face on towards target, and swings with whole arm. He's clever and skilled as a craftsman, and clearly strong-- he needs to think about body mechanics.

Oh but the way that he is holding the sling is totally wrong. That’s what I meant to draw your attention to. They are actually holding the knotted end in their hand, as the retention cord. And throwing out the looped end as the release cord. So they have it completely backwards! I thought it was funny 😆 Like what’s the point of braiding in a loophole if you don’t use it? 😆

Lol - ah how we forget.
for a first go he's actually pretty good.
didn't take him long to work out helicopter sucks Smiley

And the marshmallow lobbing was surprisingly accurate.

The straw thing is great too. I might actually give that a go.
Couple of the underarm throws were pretty good too.

So he hasn't worked out how to hold it - that makes it even more impressive.

We were all beginners once, so don't be so down on people Smiley

The ancient Peruvian Plastic straw method.  We wove something like that as kids. It works quite well. Seems like a solid method for making a first sling that looks decent without investing much time.

The slinging seemed alright. Guess I was expecting worse based on other how-to videos I've seen.

Some very good ideas here for sling construction. He admits that he is new to slinging - so obviously lots of better vids on how to sling. He has a lot of good videos on fun weapons and targets to make in the basement. His blow guns are very clever.

His underarm is actually pretty good. He has a useful half step that puts a lot more power into the throw
With a classic underarm you face forward and use your whole arm. The idea is for the missile to go forwards, if you start turned to one side, it pretty much never will.

"We were all beginners once..."  I'll say.

My first several sessions, I could throw the rock harder and further by hand than I could from a sling.

A lot of PM's to and from Jaegor, who basically coached me from another continent in a language that he didn't speak was all it took.

Has anyone PM'd the guy and let him know there is a website devoted to all things slinging?  Or offered to coach him?
