CA - your package arrived today.  Thank you!  I am busy at work (sorting cutlery) and will be able to open it later today.

Hubert - yours was posted today. May take some time for international mail.

Forgot to post here but JudoP your package is on the way. You already have one of my cotton string slings so I sent something at least a little different and a few extras Smiley

Just got it in the post today  Smiley

It's a sisal split pouch of about 30'' cntr pouch to end of fingerloop, looks like 6-8 cord tapering down to 3-4 at the end.

Nice to see the cords have been pre-soaked (I'm guessing) greatly increasing it's pliability, but still fairly low stretch for quite a thin sling- I approve  Cool

Also had several bars of Finnish choc which are delicious. I've nearly chomped them all already.

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow to sling if the weather finally turns- so will have to test it. It's been the first time in about 3-4 months and I'm missing it a lot!

Looks like I might have to share the sling though- as per usual littlun has taken an interest in any new snakes in the room.

Got Shale’s beauty of a sling in a little bit ago. I’ve been meaning to post a pic of it, but I’ve been really busy lately. I really like it, thank you and nice work Shale!

CA -

Thank you!

I opened your package and shot the leather pouch sling - Wow!  I gained about 20 yards slinging a golf ball.  However, it faded (left to right for a right handed golfer) which my golfer son explains is not desirable.  I think that this is me getting used to the sling - which is fantastic.

I am rethinking my pouch design, the way I attach the cords to the pouch and the retention loop (so just about everything!) based on your leather pouch sling.

Can you direct me to a template for the pouch?

I have not tried the 3D printed pouch yet.  I will report on it later.

The cap paul template is around. Not sure if I ever updated to the fettled one I use. Plus I also adjust when I punch the holes to give  wider pouch once riveted.

I'll dig out the pdf and adjust.
Meanwhile here's the adjusted pdf and link to original thread, They are awesome slings

Here's the cap paul sling pouch pdf.
Again print out on a4 for a tennis ball sized pouch and a5 for golfball Smiley

These are the rivets I use. https://www.amazon.com/DOMED-RIVETS-Diameter-Leather-Craft/dp/B06XHX1NB4/ref=sr_...

I like to hammer the living crap out of them to make them totally flat.
The pouches are virtually indestructible. I always use replaceable cords, that way you can have one pouch and as many lengths of cord as you like.
Keep the loops fairly long and they are easy to change. Plus the knot helps open the pouch up for missile release.

And yes, golf balls will curve like a bastard. I can shoot right angles with a golf ball. It's the extra spin you get from the elongated pouch.
Try it with a clay glande - you'll get way more spin and distance Smiley
Just happen to know a bloke who makes custom moulds for clay glandes Smiley

You should get a straighter throwmwith the plastic pouch, as it's a lot smoother should impart less spin to a golfball. Certain;y gives straighter throws with tennis ball than the leather pouches.

You spot the laser engraving yet ?

OKay these are not the exact same slings judop sent me.
But apart from shorter cords on the leather 'seatbelt' pouch they are the same Smiley

I call the braided and stitched leather pouch a shepherd sling. He calls it an apache, either way It's one of the bext examples of the breed that I have.
Great couple of slings Thumbs Up
