JudoP, IMHO your long range style is fine the way it is. You get your hips and body into the throw and have a good follow through. I wouldn't change anything.

Thanks Rat man.
I'm always open to suggestions and tweaking, but this style does seem to be working pretty well so far.
I set myself a target of 200m a while back, and I've *probably* hit that now (though I don't know for sure!). I think when I get to 250m with a stone I'll be satisfied with range for good, 300m would make me extremely happy (but I'm not counting on that happening) at least my slinging career is still young though...
After that I can focus on trying to hit something

200m is what I'm aiming at right now, although I don't think I've done many over 120 , need a good area so I can find the ammo.

200 m is my record. I did it a few years ago. I estimated the distance using Google Earth. I used a 40" modified jute pj sling with a tapered pouch and my usual ammo, an egg size oval river stone. The style I used was Bealeric. I could get more distance slinging a golf ball but or me that's good. I'm satisfied with it.

I don't have anywhere really where I can reliably measure distance or be sure I won't hit anyone. I'm far more concerned with accuracy though that doesn't mean I'm very accurate

I suggest to study this fascinating slow motion study about the "sense" to make a VERY FAR STRIDE for a very good throw.
That the velocity of this stride is relatively slow doesn't matter at all ... says my "long experience"! The long stride foreward has a very different reason - different from the "little add of small speed".
May I introduce - DREW STOREN in 1000 frames per second:

The same throw with some more explanations (and diff. perspective):

Hard to go wrong when studying a baseball pitcher. There are some step-by-step videos on youtube that go pretty in depth. I'm always amazed at how every movement of the body is understood and practiced so methodically.

What an absolutely fascinating video.
Unfortunately now living back in a city it might be difficult to find places to go for range (or to sling at all). Nevertheless I do want to experiment with these concepts.
Might have to resort to tennis ball slinging in a local park to keep the practice up, there is also a reservoir about 50 mins walk away which could be promising.

Thanks - I found it the day before yesterday on youtube and hoped very much you would like it. Beautyful made (by pitcherspowerdrive) with this nice trace-music!
