Potential Event: Arkansas/Ouachita National Forest

How many people would be able to do a meet-up at some point this fall or spring in the general area of the Ouachita National Forest?

If there's significant interest, I'll look to start putting something together.

Well, 9000 miles is a bit of a commute.

Other locations which seem logical for some of the smaller pseudo-concentrations of slingers would be Texas somewhere.

I'm also going to talk with the people who run the ArchaeOlympics in Arkansas about us attending and setting up an exhibition target or two. Not a competition, but a demonstration. I'll keep this board updated.

I'm interested and not too far, but I'd have a hard time getting there.

I think the demonstration is a good idea.

Well, what about shifting South, to middle of Northern LA? Even NW LA might be viable, if one of the parks can be obtained.

Poverty Point might be a really interesting place to have a Sling Meet in the Spring sometime, but a bit of a haul for the Texans.

So... One at Poverty Point, one in Arkansas near Little Rock for the ArchaeOlympics, and one in Texas....

If I want to get anything organized, I guess I've got my work cut out for me.

It would also be interesting to have some set up as recurring events, Poverty Point being the prime location for one of those. An Ancient Skills Weekend would be perfectly suited to the site.

I'll try to contact them in October, when I get back from a rather long hike I'm headed to next week.

If I'm available whatever weekend it is, I could see myself combining this with one of my other hobbies (motorcycle touring/camping).  Although, I wouldn't add much competition slinging-wise, since I'm just starting out Cheesy
