Forming a pouch from a flat piece of leather and other things

After going over as many videos as I can find, reading topics on making slings and looking at as many photos as possible of slings, it seems I did my own thing for 50 years.
I use a fat leather pouch 3" wide by 6" long. One hole on each end and paracord. I notice all the slings, have cord or whatever coming directly out each side of the pouch, in line with the pouch. Mine, I tie a knot on one end then place a washer on the cord and push it to the knot. Then I push the cord into the pouch from the out side. This puts both cords inside the pouch and the knots on the out side of the pouch. My theory was with the cords on the inside, they force the pouch open. Does it make a difference??
I use the cord around the wrist - which seems to be actually a method of some slingers and what I copied from early Greeks drawings.
Ok my post question how can I form my flat pouch to have a bit of a round deeper pocket. Being in the elevator industry I have access to many large round ball bearing. Thinking about wetting the leather and wrapping it around the ball. Another is beating the center of the pouch over a soft wood so the wood is pushed in and forms a mould .
Ok guys hit me.

To make a cupped pouch, the easiest route would be to wet form a ball bearing around the leather.

T.J. Potter has an excellent website for sling makers. He has a lot of information about braiding, but he also has instructions on how to make a leather sling, including information on how to give the pouch a cupped shape.

easiest way to make a cupped pouch is to use one of the templates in the template thread.
My standard pouch for quick slings is the butterfly pouch.

It's hit and miss for me (it worked when I posted a message yesterday, but it doesn't work for me now), but if I try to access it every day, I do get in eventually.

I used a 1” Dia Ball bearing with it’s outer ring. Did some reading on molding leather and they said use warm water, which I did and after a few minutes, placed it in the ring and squished it in place using the ball bearing. Waited a few hours and slowly removed it. It was still damp, but had the perfect shape I wanted. Left it hang overnight to dry.
Came out perfect. I can put it in my pocket wrapped with the cord and it goes back to the new shape. Amazing difference in accuracy, I now can actually hit the side of a barn, ha. Seriously consistently better control.
The Specs:
4 x 6 leather
Thickness – on the shoe tongue size
Polycord -- Knots on the inside of the Pouch
Cord around wrist.
Have to send a photo but Photobucket is holding me hostage for money, for third party use. I will find a back door.

NEXTGEN, this has nothing to do with your question about cupping but if you haven't done so yet try making a seatbelt sling. They are amazingly versatile, easy to use, accurate, have a good range, and don't look bad.
