Recommendations for sling ammo bags?
Jun 6th, 2017 at 11:13am

Preferably I would like it to not be cumbersome, well attached so it doesn't bang up against me all the time, and maybe attachable to leg or something, not the belt, as I usually sling without a belt as I find it restricting.

i use a bag made out of trousers.
i cut a piece of trousers so that resembles a pipe.
i sew one end and i have a bag.
then i sew on small loops so that i can clip on a strap for bag.

when full it's probably around 10kg ,i hang it on waist because it is the least tiring.

so this bag will bang up against you and is hanged on waist  Tongue

i use the bag only to collect stones and make a pile next to me at the range.

I'm using an Hungarian gas mask bag. Gas mask bags are pretty good actually as they are pretty tough and pretty cheap to as there are plenty around.

Looks good but you can get them even cheaper than that if you shop around.

Yep - got one as well. Excellent bag.
Has both shoulder strap and tie round waist straps as well.
Which fits me with strap to spare. I'm not particularly skinny Smiley

Used it in mallorca this year. Very comfortable, will hold a lot of ammo.
Though I would recommend when in the middle of a competition. Empty the half dozen or so sockballs out before you drop your rocks in. Saves rootling around in it mid turn, which does put yu off your concentration a bit  Smiley (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

I use an olive green army haversack. It is cheap but has held up for awhile now. I only use it while actually slinging. When hiking i use an ordinary backpack to transfer stones to my slinging area. The haversacks are nice because you can easily do your throw while wearing the bag. I cant do the figure 8 while wearing the backpack.

For me a cheap bolt bag, the kind many hardware stores give away or sell for a buck, works the best. One will last me for many months of regular use.

I bought this army dump pouch for the waste a few months back. Until now I had no actual use for it, but it works really well. However when I'm actually slinging i usually just drop it on the ground next to me.

As I already commented, I have been using an Hungarian gas mask bag but when I saw this drop leg dump pouch for sale on my favourite Army surplus online store, I couldn't resist. I've now had the chance to test it out a few times so here's a quick review. Because it's attached to my leg I've been using it for tennis balls rather than heavy stones, saving the gas mask bag for stones, and it's been great! Now I've finally got all the straps adjusted right, it's really comfortable and holds a fair few tennis balls. Doesn't get in the way whilst slinging or walking and is at a good height for quick access. I thought it might be too low and I would be constantly stretching down but it's really easy to reach inside and, if I was going to take up speed slinging, I would use this. Would recommend.
