Recent recognition for my slings
Jun 2nd, 2017 at 2:12pm

So I have a small etsy shop, that I started with just slings back 2015.  Business has been good, we'll last year I had a customer  who just so happens to be the curator of the 'Mariners Museum ' in Newport News Va.  We had discussed donating a few slings for thier education department.  Balearic,  Mesoamerican , and African.  So in the past I posted here for information regarding the 2 types I was unfamiliar with. The last 2. And this community came and helped. Which was greatly appreciated. So I been practicing and finally finished,  to where I was happy with. Which I posted  a few weeks back in the 'pictures of slings ' thread. I sent em out. So they received em, and very happy. Thankfully.  So here  is the letter i just got back today. I have to reach out to him again though. Also in tge meantime,  I had another customer who owns  'paleo tracks survival ' primitive living skills survival school based out of Monument Co. He uses my slings exclusively, in his classes.  He has a youtube channel he did a shoutout to me. But attached is tge letter I received from the museum.
Enjoy.
Ryan

Awesome! Could you post the pictures of the slings here? I would love to make a few properly historically accurate (at least in style if not materials) slings. Have to add it to the ever-growing project list.

From the sounds of it, everyone who saw them were excited.  An amazed. I was just happy that everyone enjoyed them, and now it will get shared with countless people and children.  The best perk. ( I might sound stingy ) is the invitation for a personal backstage tour with the curator.

Stingy? That doesn't seem stingy to me at all.

So I actually went to the museum on Friday,  me and my gf went on a camping trip down in the area for my birthday.  I saw a ton of stuff. And got a backstage tour of the museum.  I can't post the pics I took. But i.saw  early 20th century Eskimo bird bolas. One was cordage, and bones. The other was leather and wolf teeth. Also saw a 1200 year old viking sword.  It had a fuller, and was pattern welded.  With brass inlays. It was a great trip. My  slings were out being used at an event.
