Making a new sling.
Apr 4th, 2017 at 9:45pm

I made a sling similar to this a little back. But this one is much larger. 32 inches. I'm going to make it a apache style, which the other was, but after it didn't perform like I would have liked it too, and the pouch started coming off quick, I took it off and now have a small Balearic esqe sling. So I'm making this one.

I've been taking a break for a few days, as all that braiding was hard on my fingers, pulling hard to get it tight (I might finish it today, or maybe just start sewing the pouch it it and such). And my fingers were doing this thing that they do, not sure if I'm double jointed, but they sometimes bend weird and when they do that too much it doesn't feel great, I can make them do that purposefully too, but when they are under a lot of force while im doing something intricate like braiding they do it on their own. It's hard to explain in words what it looks like, so if your interested I can post a picture. But when I show it to some people they get a bit squeamish, so you have been warned.

I can't speak to the double jointed issue as I don't have that particular problem but braiding can definitely put alot of strain on your fingers.  I imagine it will lessen as the muscles build up.  I used to do some pen spinning and I found muscles in my hand and wrist growing that I didn't even know I had.   Wink

My left hand fingers sometime cramp when I braid or process fiber. My fingers assume some outrageous and painful positions Undecided  Pics might be fun Cheesy

Here ya go. Oh, and I've never broken my hands (or any bones, knock on wood) and I can do this with both.

When doing stuff like braiding hard for a while the knuckle in the middle of my finger will move far down. And if that happens too much, it makes my fingers not feel too great.

Huh Looks like you have something a whole lot more serious than braiding cramps Smiley

They don't do it all the time. In those pictures I'm doing it on purpose. I can also turn my leg all the way around.
