according to the 'rules' - which are pretty much ignored by all and sundry, and nobody really knows why they have some of them anyway.
It must be a sling made from natural materials. As far as I know that's all the rules say.
Now me, personally I believe that natural materials include paracord - cos that's what's natural for me to use
There are so few slingers left that actually applying the 'rules' makes no sense.

What actually defines a balearic sling is much simpler. It's a split pouch braided sling. Sometimes the pouch is lined with leather, sometimes not. I've not yet seen one that wasn't made with natural fabres.
The pouch can also have three strands rather than 2.
It should have a tapered release cord with a fluffy 'cracker' on the end.
