Unconventional slings?
Mar 2nd, 2017 at 11:18pm

I recently saw some pictures in the sling and slinging section depicting unconventional slings. The strange release mechanisms, hooks, and pouches confuse/interest me. I've never been good at searching for stuff on here, so if you guys could link me to posts about unconventional slings that'd be great. Oh and the ones I saw were posted by jax. But I would also like to see any other unconventional sling posts/threads. Thanks!

From what I've seen, most "unconventional" slings just add unnecessary complication to something that is the pinnacle of simplicity.

They are answering questions that need not be asked...

But they can be fun and interesting.

I've always wanted to build a trebuchet that throws slightly off center and rifle spins biconical projectiles.

That is.. unusual. I don't know that I think it would confer any benefit to me personally, but certainly qualifies as novel.

A truly unconventional sling would be one that's easy to aim. Call me when someone invents that one. Until then I'll just keep using what I got.  Wink

Maybe affixing a laser on the pouch or something and learning when to let go depending on its position.  Grin

Although you would need some serious hand-eye coordination. Cheesy

I have one of jax's captured release baseball slings.

The one time I took it out for a test drive, I nearly knocked myself out and david practically strangled himself.

They do work and are good for specific purposes - but, no not easy to use at all Smiley

Can you tell us more about the captured release baseball sling?  Sounds interesting, except for the part about knocked out and strangulation. The sacrifices that we make!
