Braiding around a Core
Feb 26th, 2017 at 5:34pm

Has anyone tried braiding the retention and release cords around a core? I would like to know if there are any advantages to doing so.

In the past I used cores to hide strings while tapering.
Also, peruvian fistbraids can have a core. There it is used to hide strings of different colors which are later used to create other patterns.

I've braided yarn over a hemp core.

I would love to do a Peruvian fist braid, but it looks very complicated. I was thinking of doing a simple four-strand braid around a hemp or paracord core. I can see how a core could be useful for tapering.

That's a really nice sling. Does the hemp core reduce the stretch of the yarn?

Sure does. The sling can't stretch any more than the hemp does  Wink
