Nets can make simple gifts like jams and wine a little more special  Smiley

Looking good. So good I think I would give a gift card and keep it for myself. Ever thought of making a cast net?

I use the sheetbend aka weavers knot.

And just multiple working ends and plait all the lines together for the handles? What knot for the bottom? I'd guess a crown knot but that's just conjecture.

I did a circular net once that dropped loops to get to the center with just one working end. That was a pain. Just using multiple lines seems the better solution.

This bag is circular with a 16 half mesh grommet start, which will create an 1/8 inch hole dead ctr at the bottom of the bag. The shape and size is created by the series of increases in each round. There is only one working end even for the handles.

When the bag reached 17", I cut the tail and working end off, tied into a different mesh and netted one more round. Cut the we and tied on again, and ran the line around an s hook and back to the bag. All the lines you see are the result of this back and forth sequence.

If you are interested in netting, I highly recommend Charles Holgate's "Net Making"

I'll definitely take a look at it.

I can see how 1 wend makes sense for very large nets, but for small nets like this, wouldn't it be faster (and equally strong) to use multiple lines?

I don' t believe it would be any faster. Probably just as strong.
