Thou lord of the braids.
Unravel my strings from the eternal mess I created and keep them nicely sorted.
Let my most fragile threads be strong even under hardest tensioning.
Let me keep overview over your manifold appearances and let me never mistake a 6 strand round for an 8 strand square braid.
Lead me to magic colour combinations and let me never find a mistake in my braid after finishing it.
Give me the patience to master every braid, be it simple or complex, and give me the endurance to finish them as well.
So that you shall receive my braided offerings in many colours.

The Church of the Ugly Sling is always welcoming new members my children. The sling pornography created by the B.R.A.I.D. community is advertised as an innocent alternate lifestyle but it's a temptation from the very pits of hell. Cast away your 32 strand Peruvian braided slings and learn to walk in the path of rawhide.

This was definately composed by an experienced sling braider. Well done!

Nice psalm there Teg haha
I'm never 100 % satisfied with any sling I make but maybe if I love long enough I'll make a perfect one in function and beauty. Onwards and upwards!
Ya I don't care what kind of slings we make as long as we are proud of them.

I seem to remember a fragment of the Dead Sea Scrolls that had to do w/ braided vs. simple slings.  My biblical Hebrew is a bit rusty, but it was something along the following lines:

And lo, David fell to his knees and spoke unto the Lord, saying;

"Oh Lord, I am not worthy to serve you.  I have not a proper woven sling, but only a simple shepherd's sling of goat [leather] scraps and bits of [hempen] string."

And the Lord looked own upon David with great favor and said unto him.

"Woven slings are an abomination unto me, for the People of Egypt, enslavers of the Children of Israel, used them.

And still David beseeched the Lord.

"I go forth against the Philistine Goliath.  How can a shepherd's sling be any match for his armaments?"

And the Lord sayeth unto David

"Let thine faith be your armaments.  With faith, all things are possible."

And so David went forth to the stream and bent there to pick five smooth stones from the waters.  And these he placed in his shepherd's bag, thence to face the Philistine Goliath, guided by his faith in the Lord.

"Have you got any spare paracord lying round?"

Heading into town to get a new roll of Sisal for my next Sling. Hopefully this one will end up better than the last ones.

Over Christmas i had to throw away nearly a complete roll of Sisal (70 meters) because during braiding i managed to create a ball of string i couldnt possibly untangle  Grin

Hardware store sisal is tough to work with. Some of our members make beautiful slings with it, but I've never had the patience for it. I picked up some colored hemp yesterday. Going to start on my sling soon. Who else is doing this?

Too soon for me. Could have one finished by mid to late march, if you do this again.

It's a little soon for me as well, just hoping I can. I always loved those dogbane slings you make. You thinking of making another one?

Going to try finding more high quality jute or hemp. I'm going to use dogbane for whipping and nets.  Smiley
