Horse powered (treadmill) grain thresher
...

Fence hole post drill
...

Foot powered lathe
...

Pit saw set-up
...

Wooden geared rope maker
Standing end
...
...
Travelling end - demonstrator stands on plank and turns handle- whole apparatus travels forward as twist in rope develops
...

Cobblestone maker
...
...

Knife and other blade sharpener - note water dripping on stone
...

Several years ago at the festival a fellow craftsman asked me to make a small fish trap to catsh sunfish and other small fish in his farm pond.  He never picked up the trap so I kept the trap for display.

I think those spring powered lathes are having a minor revival. I saw one on the cover of a woodworking magazine and you can find a few videos on youtube of them. I love old tech so to me it's fascinating.

The rope walk...now that's been on my "to do" list for a while. Haven't found a good pattern for gears yet though. Once I get a rope walk up and running I'll feel justified in buying a large amount of twine since I can make rope out of it easily when I want something thicker.

lol

I've hand twisted a fair amount of rope and had the thumb blisters to prove it. I've seen people using spinning weights (like a penknife) to make 2 strand cord without actually having to twist with their fingers but that's limited to small lengths.

What I really want is a set up so I can make multi-yarn 3 strand rope, and then make cable out of the rope. I'm fooling with the idea of using a bike chain, that seems to be easiest way to mesh multiple sized gears together.

You don't need an elaborate set-up to make rope
