My first sling
Jul 23rd, 2016 at 5:56pm

Here is my first ever sling. It is made from a braided poly cord I got cheap at the hardware store and a simple 6-hole pouch more or less made to curious-aardvark's plans. It is 29" long, hung loaded and ready to sling it hangs about an inch or so above the ground. I have at this time maybe 3-4 hours practice total but the power these simple little weapons can generate is impressive. I find that stones of perhaps 3 oz. seem to work well for me with this sling.

Thanks timpa. I also made up a simple butterfly/4 hole pouch and have been slinging that today. Braiding up a rockman style sling after dinner as well Cheesy

Sorry Smiley

note to self : before messing with links - save a copy of the original first !

No worries c.a.  cheers

For some reason on my end posting as an image direct to the forum wouldn't work, but here again is the link to the image.

I'm new as well, made my first two slings from paracord. Not sure how long they are, just used what was around...bits and pieces . The short one i use marbles for ammo, the longer one uses golf ball sized rocks. Oh and nice job on the sling...I like!

Your first sling looks orders of magnitude better than mine! My first one was a set of cut-up shoelaces and a rectangle of fabric from some old curtains that used to hang in my room. The material was so floppy, the tennis ball I was using for ammo wouldn't stay in and I nearly threw the whole idea of the sling away as a POS weapon! Thankfully, I stuck with it and realised what I was doing wrong, but it looks like you're steps ahead of where I was with my first attempt! Nice job!
